I am a marine biologist who works at the microbial scale on protists (microbial eukaryotes) and fungi. I am based at the Marine Biological Association in Plymouth.

I came to Plymouth 11 years ago to work at the Marine Biological Association. When I am not working, I love exploring the wider natural world through walking my dog and photography. I have a small garden at home that I try to maintain ‘wildlife’ friendly. My pronouns are he/him.

My Work:
I work on the biology and ecology of marine microbial life, including bacteria, protists (microbial eukaryotes) and fungi. My interests include the complex mechanisms these organisms use to live in marine ecosystems.

Work History:
Various jobs when at sixth form, including shop assistant and working behind a bar. Then after my PhD, I was a postdoc at the University of Warwick before coming to the MBA as a Research Fellow.

Current Job:
I have a joint position between the MBA and the University of Plymouth. At the MBA I am a Senior Research Fellow and at the university I am Associate Professor in Marine Microbiology.
